Sincil Bank provided a stunning play off match witch lived up and could well be one of the most amazing play off matches ever The Game kicked off with lincoln in there home kit and Bristol Rovers in the away yellow kit.
Stu Campbell got the goals started with a stunning long range shot after about 2 minutes. Lincolns defending was slack and they played some poor passing and were second to every ball Lambert made it 2-0 after 11 minutes with a crisp volley.
Lincoln made it 2-1 with a poachers goal from Jeff Hughes and after a slow start lincoln looked like getting back into the match with a few half chances but 11 minutes after hughes gave lincoln a life line it was 3-1 through walker sidefotting it past marriot that was to stay until 2 mintues before the break when stallard scored after rovers didnt clear there lines and he smashed it past phillips in the bristol goal.
The second half saw nothing much happen and Rovers had to wait until the 82nd minute when subsitute Sammy Igoe scored a curling shot into the bottom corner and on 90 minutes fellow sub Sean Rigg scored a similar goal into the other corner. In injury timr tho Jeff Hughes made it 5-3 with a sweet finish where phillips had no chance of saving.
Im sure both sets of fans will admit that game had a good affect on league 2 and gave the league a good image. The scenes after were ugly with lincoln fans looking for fights and the end of season pitch invasion didnt go a miss either as haords of lincoln fans rushed towards the bristol contingent but Bristol will be playing at Wembley and good luck to them !!!!
